Starburst Strain Review

A typically energizing strain, there’s no need to worry about being stuck to the couch all day which makes it great for daytime use.

If this sounds like the perfect vibe for you, or you simply want to know more about this elusive strain, then read on below to see everything you need to know about Starburst.

Potency

This particular strain contains a high THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) concentration which can range anywhere between 17 – 20%, whilst its CBD (cannabidiol) concentration is less than 1%. This means any beginners will need to be careful with how much they dose, as to avoid any overwhelming effects.

What Is Starburst Strain?

Often referred to as a ‘happy accident’ Starburst was created by unknown growers in Alaska. Whilst often being described as a well balanced hybrid (50% indica and 50% sativa) some believe it is actually more of a sativa dominant strain, coming in at 60% sativa and 40% indica.

How Was Starburst Developed

Not much is really known about the creation of Starburst with some believing it is made from crossing the powerful Fire OG and Pre-98 Bubba Kush strains.

Others advise that it is actually made from the crossing of Tangerine with The Hook. Regardless of the parent plants, the outcome is consistent – a balanced strain that can both energize and relax.

Taste

Named after the iconic candy, the Starburst strain offers a delicious sweet and lemony flavour. However some have reported a taste that’s more like sour lemon candy.

Either way when smoking Starburst you know you’re going to get a candy like experience.

Odor And Flavor

It shouldn’t come as any surprise that people are not all the same and as such experience things differently and this is certainly the case when it comes to scents.

Starburst is known for having an interesting and complex odor. Some describe the scent as a sweet smelling mixture of lemon and lime, as would be expected from the flavor.

However some say the aroma has a much heavier scent to them and has often been described as smelling more savoury with scents compared to diesel and a strong clinging pine smell.

Physical Appearance

Starburst has light green buds surrounded by darker shaded leaves. It is littered with light coloured hairs that look almost peach in colour and vibrant golden amber trichomes. You can’t deny that Starburst is a work of art and certainly lives up to its name.

Grow Info

The Starburst plant is an easy grower that can grow to roughly 3.5 feet tall and typically flowers within 55 – 65 days when grown indoors. If you’re growing outdoors however this can take anywhere up to about 75 days.

Effects

As with most things in life, the effect Starburst can have on you is something that’s just simply very personal. Being a fairly balanced hybrid strain it boasts both energising and relaxing effects. Some people recommend it for daytime use and however others consider it to be a couch-lock.

The initial high is often described as vibrant, with euphoric feelings coming on hard and fast. You should feel a sense of clarity wash over you and have your senses enhanced which will leave you feeling focused, motivated, buzzy and content.

As your high progresses a deep sense of physical relaxation should accompany the heady tingle, lowering you to the couch where you will likely stay as your mind soars higher and higher until you fall into a deep and contented sleep.

Side Effects

Starburst is a strain best left to the more experienced user due to the high levels of THC but that’s not to say a beginner can’t enjoy the benefits of this strain too – they would just need to monitor how much or perhaps use it with a more experienced friend.
