Mob Boss Strain Review

Mob Boss is a strain that demands respect. You definitely don’t want to mess around with it, as this strain is known to produce quite the cerebral high which can overwhelm inexperienced users.

Mob Boss Strain Review

For this reason, it’s best used in moderation. Let’s check out all the key details about Mob Boss…

Potency

Mob Boss can vary in potency, depending on which phenotype you use. The two offer very different experiences.

The most available Mob Boss phenotype delivers an energizing, clear-headed high which gives you an uplifting buzz that improves your mood. You’ll feel a rush of euphoria and a significant boost in energy.

However, the second phenotype will provide you with a hard-hitting buzzing pressure in the head, and due to the potency of the cerebral high, you’ll struggle to keep your eyes open.

For this reason, the second phenotype isn’t recommended for new users as the experience can be overwhelming.

What Is Mob Boss Strain?

Mob Boss is a sativa-dominant (60 sativa: 40 indica) hybrid featuring around 21% THC and just 0.1% CBD. It was given the name “Mob Boss” for its staggeringly heavy resin production and intoxicatingly potent effects.

How Was Mob Boss Developed?

Mob Boss was released back in 2009 by Grindhouse Medical Seeds, a collection of highly esteemed breeders who share a common goal of providing high quality genetics to the California Medical Community for a reasonable and affordable price.

This Californian sativa-dominant hybrid was created by crossing Chemdawg D with Tang Tang.

Taste

Mob Boss’ taste is as powerful as its name and reputation, packed full of spicy, citrus, sweet and woody tastes in a single toke. Despite its strong skunky aroma, you should still enjoy a plethora of sweet and sour notes as you exhale.

Odor And Flavor

Upon holding Mob Boss, you’ll detect a sweet floral scent laced with hints of earthy herbs and aromatic citrus which lingers after you light up.

Physical Appearance

Despite its intimidating name and reputation, Mob Boss features an array of fluffy buds that are a healthy green hue and are coated with glistening trichomes come harvest time.

When ready to harvest, Mob Boss will flourish into dense buds and you’ll notice red hairs sticking out from the leaves.

If you’re growing Mob Boss, you will be able to see which parent is taking control. If Chewdawg dominates, you will see rounded-top or flat colas and big bracts,  whereas if Tang Tang genetics are predominant, you will see long, thick pointed colas.

Grow Info

Mob Boss is pretty versatile and can be grown indoors or outdoors. That said, it requires a little skill to properly cultivate this strain, so it’s not ideal for novice growers.

If growing outdoors, you need to live in a Mediterranean climate, ensuring the plants are not exposed to daytime temperatures below 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

The plant will grow up to four feet tall and usually begins flowering at the beginning of October. The potential yield is a fruitful 28 ounces per plant.

However not everyone lives in a warm environment and has access to plenty of private land to grow on, so you may be relieved to hear that Mob Boss is easier to cultivate indoors.

Mob Boss has a strong aroma, so it’s best grown in a sealed grow room or tent with an odor-control filter. Its flowering time is 9-11 weeks, and it can yield up to 24 ounces per square meter planted.

The Sea of Green (SOG) method can be used to reduce flowering time, and it may also be a good idea to top the plants early to keep their height in check.

After harvesting, the buds should be hung upside down to dry for seven days in a room with a relative humidity level of 50% and a temperature of 70 degrees. Once the buds are dry they can be placed in a glass jar.

Effects

If you have the more common Mob Boss phenotype, the effects will be mainly energizing. You’ll feel uplifted, happy and carefree, and will experience a euphoric buzz that may make you talk more.

The second phenotype has a more sedating effect, and you will find it hard to keep your eyes open. This cerebral high can be a little overwhelming for new users.

Once the euphoric high subsides, your body drifts into a state of relaxation, and it’s common to crave food at this stage.

While its effects can be very relaxing, Mob Boss is not a strain to use straight before bed or when you have a lot of tasks to complete. Ideally, it should be used several hours before you intend to sleep.

Side Effects

One of the biggest issues associated with Mob Boss is overuse. Due to its potency, if you use too much, or you’re not used to Mob Boss, you may experience paranoia or anxiety.

Novices who use this strain have been known to experience a high so intense that they look back on it as a bad experience. Even if you’re not a novice and use only a small amount of Mob Boss, there’s a risk of side effects such as headaches, dizziness, and dry mouth and eyes.

Medical Appointments

Mob Boss has many associated medicinal benefits. It’s often used by those who experience depression or similar mental health issues due to its mood-boosting benefits.  It can also be great for stress.

Due to its potency, it’s also used as an analgesic and helps soothe muscles and reduce the pain caused by a variety of conditions. It can also help with focus, so could have potential benefits for treating ADD/ADHD.
