Strain History

Plushberry is a well-balanced hybrid strain generally composed of 50% Sativa and 50% Indica. Although, other batches vary, and some tend to be slightly Indica-dominant.

Thanks to smart breeding, this hybrid is perfect for those of you who want to reap the rewards of cannabis without becoming too couch-bound or experiencing too many hallucinatory effects.

Genetics

Plushberry is a cross between Black Cherry Soda and Space Queen.

The direct lineage of Black Cherry Soda is unfortunately unknown. However, it is well known for being a slightly Indica-dominant strain that has a particularly enjoyable, sweet, fruity flavor.

Its uplighting effects are balanced by a smooth and relaxing bodily high.

Space Queen is a hybrid strain that is made by crossbreeding Romulan and Cinderella 99.

Space Queen is appropriately named, as its buzzy head-high can make you feel as if you’re floating. It is a 50% Sativa 50% Indica strain that is renowned for its racy, exciting high.

Origin

Plushberry was actually one of the first strains to be created by TGA Subcool Seeds. TGA Subcool Seeds begin back in 2001 when a small group of medical cannabis growers decided to start their own seed bank.

They are an innovative company that has since created over 37 strains designed to help with particular medical ailments. In fact, over the years they have developed an excellent reputation amongst the medical community.

Strain Appearance

Some Plushberry phenotypes can be grown in cooler climates. As such, these varieties tend to have golden, pink, and violet hues. When mixed with the forest-green buds, this multicolored strain is particularly pleasing to look at.

As discussed briefly above, there are different types of Plushberry. The Indica-heavy strains have a more typical green color and bulkier appearance. These will essentially look more like what you would expect from an Indica-dominant cannabis plant.

Strain Flavor

Unfortunately, not all Plushberry strains are created the same. Some phenotypes have a particularly intense flavor, consisting of notes of berry sweetness, citrus, and a spicy aftertaste.

Other less flavorful strains will still present hints of sweetness and spice, but will likely not taste of much at all.

Strain Aroma

Thanks to the Black Cherry Soda lineage, Plushberry has a delightful aroma. Consumers describe it as an invigoratingly earthy smell with strong notes of berry.

Though, due to its genetics, Plushberry has a distinctly nuanced aroma, also consisting of hints of pine, citrus, and skunk.

Strain Cannabinoids

Plushberry strains tend to have an average THC level of 17%. This is quite a mid-range percentage, ideal for sporadic smokers or those with a low tolerance.

However, it is important to proceed with caution. Some Plushberry strains have been found to have a THC content of up to 25%. This is very high, and as such, it is important to begin with a small dosage.

Generally, Plushberry isn’t the strain to go for if you want decent CBD content. However, according to some tests, certain Plushberry strains may contain as much as 2% CBD, which is more than a lot of other strains.

Strain Terpenes

Present in most plants and some animals, terpenes are naturally occurring chemical compounds that have a wide variety of purposes. In cannabis, it is understood that terpenes give strains their unique aroma and flavor.

However, more recently, research has suggested that terpenes play more of a role in the effects of a given strain than originally thought.

Now, it is understood that certain terpenes can aid in boosting the unique effects of a strain.

The most abundant terpene in Plushberry is Myrcene, closely followed by Pinene and Caryophyllene.

Studies have found that terpene Myrcene increases blood-barrier protection. In turn, this enhances the effects of the strain by increasing its potency.

In one sense, this is great news. Myrcene can have very powerful anti-inflammatory and pain relief properties. Although, in another sense, it makes this particular strain quite punchy, regardless of its average THC content.

As such, it’s best to proceed with caution, as it’s quite common to experience couch-lock with this terpene.

Strain Side Effects

Generally, you can expect all of the usual side effects with Plushberry. It’s normal to experience a dry mouth and dry eyes, so make sure you have water to hand!

With higher doses, some more serious side effects can occur.

For instance, if you’re a first-time smoker, someone with a low tolerance, or you have simply consumed too high a dosage, you might experience headaches or dizziness.

Medical Benefits

Plushberry’s mild sedative effects help alleviate the symptoms of health conditions that induce a moderate level of pain.

What is so great about Plushberry in this sense is its ability to alleviate pain whilst also keeping you uplifted enough so that you can continue with your day-to-day activities.

Plushberry is also known to induce a happier mood and calm the mind, which can be of great relief to people with mental health issues such as PTSD, ADD, ADHD, and anxiety.

This strain has also been known to help people alleviate the symptoms of insomnia. Although, for those with more intense medical issues, we recommend looking for a strain with a higher CBD content.

Strain Review

We love the flavor of this strain. It is particularly well-balanced with delicious hints of sweetness that elevate the taste rather than overpower it.

It also has a strangely fresh, floral aroma that is pungent without being too overpowering or obvious.

If you hit the sweet spot in terms of dosage, Plushberry has wonderfully coherent effects on the mind and body. After a little bit of time, it can make you feel as if you’re floating and will clear the mind of any concerns.

For these reasons, Plushberry is a perfect strain to consume at a social event. In fact, consumers note that their conversations with others become more creative, interesting, and lively.

Although, it’s important to remember that this strain has some sedative effects, so don’t consume too much in these settings!

Strain Grow Info

If Plushberry sounds like your thing, why not give growing it a go? It can demand a good chunk of time and effort, but ultimately it isn’t the most difficult strain to grow.

It can grow indoors, outdoors, or in a greenhouse. It also doesn’t really require a hydroponic system, as Plushberry seeds prefer soil.

Strain Seeds

Plushberry seeds are quite easy to come by and are available in a feminized version.

Feminized seeds are developed through a process of genetic manipulation, with the aim of creating seeds that only produce the female cannabis plant.

Female cannabis plants produce significantly higher quantities of THC and CBD than their male counterparts. In fact, male cannabis plants do not produce substances that will give you a high.

As such, having feminized Plushberry seeds is ideal, as it eliminates the need for the male plant.

This streamlines the whole process by saving valuable resources and space that would have otherwise been wasted on male plants. Instead, these resources can be spent on attempting to produce a larger yield.

This is particularly necessary in the case of Plushberry, as its yield can be a little disappointing.

Strain Flowering Time

Plushberry is quite a good option if you want to grow cannabis indoors. It only grows up to four feet tall, which makes it more convenient than taller, lankier strains.

When grown indoors, its flowering period is roughly between 55 and 65 days. If you want to try to grow Plushberry outdoors, you can expect a slightly longer flowering time of roughly 69 to 77 days.

However, Plushberry does need quite a bit more care than other strains. It is generally considered a moderately difficult strain to grow yourself.

As such, we recommend that you only attempt to grow this strain if you’re a fairly well-seasoned grower.

Strain Yield

The yield of this strain is unfortunately what lets it down. Outdoors, you can expect a yield of around 7 oz per plant. Indoors, things are slightly worse, as you can expect a yield of around 2 oz to 7 oz per square meter.

If it wasn’t for Plushberry’s unbeatable flavor, aroma, and effects, many simply wouldn’t bother trying to grow it. However, if you’re a lover of an incredibly well-balanced strain, we think it’s definitely worth the trouble!

Final Thoughts

Plushberry is a great, well-rounded strain. Its delicious flavor and aroma are something quite special, and its effects are second-to-none.

If you are looking for a strain that will elevate your social life, ease your body and mind, and help alleviate pain or stress, Plushberry might be perfect for you! Though, if you try to grow it, remember to go into the process with reasonable expectations.
