Lime OG Strain

Strain History

If you want to know more about your bud, take a look at its genetics and lineage.

Genetics

Lime OG or ‘Lime Kush’ is a beautifully balanced hybrid – usually 50% indica and 50% sativa. However, the THC levels in this strain tend to differ, so make sure you check the exact ratio before rolling up.

These days, pure sativas and indicas are pretty hard to come by, so Lime OG’s hybrid blend is in keeping with most other popular strains.

The infamous OG Kush, first cultivated in Florida in the 1990s, is one of the parents of Lime OG. OG Kush is another hybrid strain that gives users a spacy and cerebral feel, mixed with a calming euphoria – in other words, it’s the best of both worlds!

The other parent of Lime OG is unknown. However, its lineage includes a number of indica dominant hybrids, including master kush, and master Yoda.

Origin

The origins of this popular strain are a little hazy. The exact origins of Lime OG have been kept under wraps.

However, there’s a popular theory that the strain is a mix between OG Kush and Lime Skunk – this has been up for debate for years, though, and as of yet, no one’s confirmed it!

What we do know, is that Lime OG is currently cultivated by Exotic Genetix, a US-based company that specializes in breeding unique, cannabis hybrids. Exotic Genetix creates Lime OG by crossing Lime Skunk with Triple OG.

Lime Skunk is a sativa dominant hybrid that is DESTINED to knock your socks off. Most users report feeling energized, happy, and uplifted however, these feelings of euphoria transition quite smoothly into a calmer, more cerebral space of pure relaxation.

It’s no wonder Lime OG manages to hit the balance between energized and calm-natured on the head.

The other strain used by Exotic Genetix, Triple OG, is an indica dominant hybrid that boasts a sweet and sour lemon taste.

It also has a pretty potent THC content (up to 25%), and its initial euphoric high is soon counteracted by a sleepy, sedative-like state that makes it great for users struggling with insomnia or physical pain.

Strain Appearance

Now, let’s get up close and personal with Lime OG. There’s A LOT to say about its appearance.

Lime OG has a beautiful mix of forest green buds interjected with bursts of stunning amber and orange pistils. The buds on Lime OG are rather unique, too, and you’ll notice that many are actually heart-shaped.

When you compare Lime OG to other hybrid strains, you’ll notice its buds also look a lot smaller and more compact. This isn’t a bad thing, though, and it certainly doesn’t compromise its effectiveness.

It’s just another little quirk about Lime OG that makes it unique to other strains, and we love it!

You can also expect a generous frosting of trichomes to cover its earthy, sticky buds – just another indicator that you’re getting some excellent weed.

Strain Flavor

Now, let’s talk about flavor. The name says it all – yes, this bud really does taste like Lime! Many users report the lime-like, citrus flavor tickling your taste buds when you inhale that first hit.

As you get accustomed to the flavor, you may also notice some punchy undertones of spicy pine and herb. There’s a real, noticeable blend of sweet and sour here, and it perfectly complements Lime OG’s hybrid effects.

If you want some dynamic, flavorsome bud – Lime OG is NOT to be missed.

Strain Aroma

As you’d expect, you’ll get a whiff of that sweet, citrusy lime as soon as you sniff the buds. Many users claim the aroma of Lime OG is quite pungent, and we agree.

There’s a very noticeable, earthy-skunk aroma that’s reminiscent of other popular strains like OG Kush. In fact, you’ll find that earthy profile is generally most prominent in Kush strains – so it’s no surprise that Lime OG has its own punchy undertone that cuts through its classic, skunky lime smell.

Strain Cannabinoids

As you may know, Cannabinoids are chemical substances found in cannabis.

Generally, the term ‘cannabinoid’ refers to any substance that binds with our body’s own cannabinoid receptors and interacts with our central nervous system to produce a range of different effects.

The main cannabinoids in cannabis are THC and Cannabidiol (CBD).

Although Lime OG is a hybrid strain, it has a pretty staggering THC content of between 18.5 to 20.5%, depending on the cultivation technique.

This level of THC makes Lime OG a rather potent strain that may not be suitable for beginner smokers. If you’re not accustomed to high THC levels, you may experience paranoia, anxiety, or other undesirable effects.

On the contrary, the CBD content of Lime OG sits somewhere in the middle, coming in at around 0.53 to 0.9%. This helps to counteract some of the more intense psychoactive effects of THC and balance the high to create a more calm and relaxed feel.

This is what helps Lime OG have a more ‘calming high’ that can start off quite intense and transition slowly to a more drowsy and physically relaxed state.

Lime OG also has a number of other cannabinoids, including:

  • CBC: 0.46-0.98%
  • CBG: 0.22-1.28%
  • CBN: 0.41-0.29%
  • THCV: 0.28-1.05%

Strain Terpenes

The term ‘terpenes’ refers to a range of chemical compounds found in cannabis. Terpenes are what give strains like Lime OG their unique range of smells and flavors. Lime OG has a total terpene content of 1.02%. Here are all the individual terpenes found in Lime OG.

  • Pinene: 0.08%
  • Myrcene: 0.23%
  • Ocimene: 0.01%
  • Humulene: 0.8%
  • Limonene: 0.29%
  • Linalool: 0.05%
  • Terpinolene: 0.03%
  • Caryophyllene: 0.25%

The body high and physical relaxation that sets in after the euphoria is ideal for users experiencing any of the following:

  • Chronic Pain
  • Nausea

  • ADHD
  • Depression

If you suffer from anxiety, you should try Lime OG in small doses. Bud with a high THC content is known for inducing anxiety and paranoia in some users.

Strain Review

Lime OG is more than just your average hybrid strain. Its unique mix of terpenes gives it a rich, punchy aroma and flavor that really makes it stand out from the crowd.

Although it tends to be an even split of indica and sativa, Lime OG is THC dominant.

When paired with a generous helping of CBD, this takes the edge of the psychoactive properties of THC and leaves users with a calming yet motivational effect that makes it suitable for both recreational and medicinal use.

If you want to try a strain that can get you moving and productive before the couch-lock hits, Lime OG is the sweet spot you’re searching for.

Lime OG seeds used to be available to purchase from a number of online retailers. However, seeds from Exotic Genetix appear to be out of stock everywhere, and it’s not clear if they’re coming back.

Growers, keep those eagle eyes peeled – if you’re lucky, they may come back!

Strain Flowering Time

You can expect this bud to take between 70 to 79 days to flower. Lime OG is photoperiod cannabis. This means that its stages of growth are heavily influenced by the amount of light they receive.

Strain Yield

Lime OG can be challenging to grow. However, because it’s a type of photoperiod cannabis, it’s more likely to generate higher yields than autoflowers.
