Blue Skittles Strain Review

If you’ve already heard of Blue Skittles or Blue Zkittlez, then we’re sure you’re already well aware of its potent reputation!

Blue Skittles, besides being an Indica dominant strain of cannabis, is infused with 20% THC (though this can sometimes vary depending on who has made it) and can cause strong feelings of sedation almost immediately after taking a hit.

Due to the high levels of THC within Blue Skittles, we recommend that you use it with caution, especially if you find that you do not have a strong tolerance for Indica strains.

If you find that you can sometimes feel afraid or overwhelmed from the sedative effects of an Indica high, then consider taking something a little milder, or opting for an uplifting Sativa high instead.

What Is Blue Skittles?

Blue Skittles, otherwise known as Blue Zkittlez, is Indica-dominant cannabis that is known for its ability to induce strong feelings of relaxation.

So much so, that Blue Skittles has the ability to cause something known as couch lock (which is where you feel as though you can’t get up off the couch) which means that it should definitely be used carefully.

Blue Skittles has a yummy, fruity taste that makes it appealing to all types of taste buds, although, we do recommend opting for a different strain of cannabis if you have a low cannabis tolerance, or find that strong Indica highs can cause you to feel a little bit anxious.

However, if you’re an experienced smoker and love the sedative high that comes from smoking Indica pot, then we think that Blue Skittles might just be your new go-to!

It’s a great go-to at the end of a long day when you want nothing more than to kick back, relax and let the stress of the day melt away.

How Was Blue Skittles Developed?

Blue Skittles is a hybrid strain of marijuana that comprises two popular strains, Zkittlez and Blue Diamonds. It was first developed and created by Dying Breed Seeds and was specifically made with strong relaxation in mind.

As for the name? Well, as you might already be aware, many cannabis manufacturers name their strains interesting and quirky names, so it is believed that Blue Skittles was, quite literally, named after the candy of the same name.

Taste

If you’ve never tried Blue Skittles before, then many users often describe the first hit as being quite an overwhelming experience due to the strong initial tart flavor.

However, after the first inhale, the flavor becomes more enjoyable, and you may even find yourself noticing small hints of herbs, grapefruit, citrus, and berry.

Odor And Flavor

Despite the fact that Blue Skittles is characterized by its strong potency and sedative effects, it actually has a pleasant aroma that consists of a sweet blend of berries hints and a deep, alluring base reminiscent of forest earth.

If you plan on grinding the buds or breaking them apart, then you’ll also likely notice that the aroma of Blue Skittles intensifies somewhat, although most people really like the scent, so this is often not a problem.

As for the flavor, you can expect to taste a strong flavor of tart upon the first inhale, which will then become more pleasant as you continue to smoke with hints of berries, citrus, and more.

Physical Appearance

Blue Skittles has buds that are definitely on the smaller side when compared to other types of strains, though many users like this because it makes breaking the buds apart very easy.

As for the appearance, Blue Skittles is an earthy green hue that contains yellow and blue pistils. You may also notice a frosty layer of trichomes, as well as little brown leaves, too.

Grow Info

If you’re planning on growing your own strain of cannabis for the first time, then Blue Skittles might not be the best option, because this moreish strain requires a little bit of know-how to get the best yield and flowering results.

Blue Skittles can grow in both an indoor and outdoor environment, although seeing as Blue Skittles requires a warm and dry climate to grow, most people opt to grow this strain indoors.

However, if you do wish to grow this strain outdoors, then do keep in mind that outdoor grown Blue Skittles will be ready to be harvested by around the beginning of October, and will also require regular trimming.

As for indoor-grown Blue Skittles,  you will need to make sure that you control the temperature and humidity for optimum growing conditions, and will take around 7-8 weeks to flower.

Effects

As an Indica-dominant strain of cannabis, Blue Skittles will almost instantly make you feel an overwhelming sense of relaxation that will make you want to lay down, chill out and sleep.

For this reason, it is recommended that you use this when you don’t have any plans for the day, or if you are getting ready to settle down for the night.

Sativa is present in this strain of weed, so you may also feel sensations of euphoria, though it’s unlikely that you’ll want to go out and socialize from it, rather, the euphoric feelings of the Sativa will likely just elevate your mood.

Side Effects

Besides the standard side effects that come along with smoking weed (red eyes, cottonmouth, paranoia) it is very important to keep in mind that Blue Skittles has a higher chance of causing you to experience couch-lock, so if this is something you don’t want to experience, we recommend opting for a milder strain.

Medical Appointments

Due to the sedative and calming effects of Blue Skittles, it is often recommended for use by those who suffer from chronic pain, muscle spasms, feelings of depression, high levels of stress, and more.
