Banana Split Strain Review

If you’re looking for a strain with unique flavors that offers a long-lasting high that can be used as a form of relaxation in the evening or during the day to be more productive, then you’ll want to read further into this banana split strain review.

Potency

Banana split is a potent strain that has a 24% THC content which comes on quickly and will last for hours.

Users will commonly use this strain in the night due to the sedative that leaves you firmly stuck to the sofa, however, some users will find the burst of energy it gives you when you first smoke is a good kick start to their day.

What Is Banana Split?

How Was Banana Split Developed?

Banana split is a creation by Crockett Family Genetics and Skord Marijuana and is a hybrid of the strains tangie and banana sherbert. The idea was to create yet another dessert flavoring strain that can be enjoyed after meal times as an ideal sweet treat.

Taste

If you have a sweet tooth, then you’ll love this strain and thoroughly enjoy the process of smoking it. There is a distinct creamy sweetness on the inhale, which has notes of banana and other fruity goodness.

On the exhale, you’ll be able to notice stronger citrus flavors that have an earthy undertone that will linger in your mouth for an hour or two. We wouldn’t say it tastes exactly like a banana split dessert, but it’s as close as you’re going to get.

Odor & Flavor

This is up there with one of the best smelling strains you’ll come across. It’s inviting fruity aromas that are merged with creamy notes that help bring it together to become a noticeable sundae flavoring.

There is not an overly banana aroma, so if you’re not a fan of this fruit then you’ll still enjoy being around this strain.

Physical Appearance

The banana split bud has oversized nugs that can come in several shades of green with prominent amber hairs poking through.

The bud is nicely coated in glistening trichomes and you may even see some purple hues coming through on the nugs depending on how nicely your batch has grown.

Growth Info

One of the main things you need to know about the banana split strain is that there are 2 phenotypes, one is a 60/40 sativa/indica hybrid whilst the other is a 40/60 indica/sativa hybrid.

As the ratios are pretty similar, the effects will be pretty much the same, however, when it comes to growing, the sativa dominant strain will take longer to flower.

It should take around 8-9 weeks for the crop to be ready to harvest and you won’t have to do too much maintenance when waiting for them to flower as it’s not prone to diseases.

To prevent the buds from absorbing unnecessary nutrients that could alter the taste to almost chemical-like, we’d recommend flushing the growth medium a few weeks before harvesting.

Plants could grow to be around 6 feet tall, so make sure you’ve got enough room to grow them and use support string to ensure they don’t snap.Growing outdoors could result in your yielding 16 punches per plant under the right conditions.

Effects

Even after one hit, this banana split strain will leave you feeling uplifted with a sense of euphoria and a mild buzz around your body. It’ll help calm you down and leave you feeling at ease without feeling too heavy or sedated.

It’ll promote mental clarity, helping you feel more focussed during your day but we wouldn’t recommend trying to get too much done after a few hits of this, as your body will develop the numbing sensation and you’ll soon want to move to the couch.

Once the euphoria wears off, you’ll soon float into a more sedative state and even feel ready for a snack, so don’t keep the chips too far away. You’ll get to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep and wake up feeling refreshed.

Side Effects

We’ll be surprised if you don’t experience any cotton-mouth or dry eyes when smoking this strain as it happens to us all at some point. Just make sure to stay hydrated and avoid seeing family members.

Some frequent users of banana split also note that inhaling too deeply or smoking too quickly could result in a cough occurring, which will subside once the effects kick in.

Banana split is not recommended for anyone new to cannabis as the high THC content may be overwhelming and could put them off trying it again, so know your limits and you won’t be disappointed.

Medical Appointments

Banana split is a popular strain for medicinal purposes, especially for conditions that cause the loss of appetite, as banana split will bring on hunger pangs.

People who suffer from anxiety or insomnia will find the banana split strain will help them calm down and get a good night’s sleep.

It can be used for treatment for chronic pain as it relaxes the body and will ease tension for hours without having to use it more continuously throughout the day.

Similar Strain

If you’d like a more dominant sativa strain banana split, the alternative options could be captain America OG or key lime pie but they won’t hold the distinct sweet flavoring that banana split does.

For an indica-dominant alternative for banana split, we’d recommend THC bomb and mother’s helper.

Strain Cannabinoids

The THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) content of banana split stands around 25% which is too strong for inexperienced users but will be widely enjoyed by those who’ve dabbled in other strains of similar potency.

As for the CBD (Cannabidiol) content, it has only around 1% which is not enough to be recommended as a dominant medicinal strain.
