Apple Fritter Strain

The Apple Fritter strain (also known as ‘Apple Fritters’) is one of the most popular strains in the world, particularly all over the state of California, and has been dubbed one of the strongest strains by multiple publications.

With a flavor that’s particularly sweet, apple fritter tastes most like… orange! Just kidding, apple. Obviously. With a THC level of a staggering 28%, this strain brings a fast and effective high.

There’s a reason it’s so popular, and it’s not just its striking taste! The strains in which it has most in common are Bacio Gelato, Chocolate Frosted Sherbet, Triple Scoop, and Gorilla Warfare (all with a lower average THC level, naturally).

Below is everything you need to know about the apple fritter strain, including its genetics and origin, its appearance, aroma and flavor, its terpenes and cannabinoids, as well as its side effects (both positive and negative) and medical be

nefits. And if you’re looking for a guide on how to grow the strain yourself, we’ve got you covered there too.

Strain History

A rather elusive strain when it comes to its history, here’s all that’s publicly known about the Apple Fritter.

Genetics

The Apple Fritter strain is a very balanced one; 50% incida and 50% sativa.

It was created in Northern California via the crossing of the Animal Cookies strain, also known as Animal Crackers (which is itself a cross between Girl Scout Cookies and Fire OG), and the Sour Apple strain, also known as Sour Diesel Apple (which is a cross between Sour Diesel and Cinderella 99).

Animal Cookies and Sour Apple are notably different from each other, which is partially what makes Apple Fritter so unique. As it’s still a relatively new strain, its genetics are highly protected by the original breeder.

The only known child of the Apple Fritter is the Cherry Fritter. Much like its parent, not much is known about the genetics of this strain. But, as will come as no surprise, it tastes just like a cherry fritter. Who would’ve thought?

Origin

The exact origins of the Apple Fritter strain are unknown. Despite its tremendous reputation in the weed world, the history of the strain is surprisingly mysterious. The original breeder has certainly gone to great lengths to keep its origins under wraps.

Strain Profile

Strain Appearance

In terms of how Apple Fritter actually looks, it’s visibly inconspicuous, especially considering its sky high THC levels. The plant is reportedly bushy, and medium sized.

Its nugs (the smokable part) are shaped like spades, with an olive shade of dark green and some dark purple undertones. They have bright orange pistils, and a coating of white, crystallic trichomes.

It’s a heavy strain, more so than one might expect from looking at it.

Strain Flavor

As will now be tremendously apparent, its taste is similar to the freshly baked pastry treat from which it got its name.

Its tastes are widely lauded as being among the very best that weed has to offer, and you won’t find much more like it on the market (except, of course, its descendant Cherry Fritter).

Very appley, with cakey, vanilla, cheese, earthy and pine tones, it might not taste exactly like the real thing, but if there’s a strain of weed out there that tastes any closer to an apple fritter, that’s… well, that would be insane. That’s… highly unlikely.

Strain Aroma

Any guesses on its aroma? Yes, the Apple Fritter strain does indeed smell quite like the pastry, with strong hints of sour apples. But there’s also notes of cheese, honey, pine and juniper.

Strain Cannabinoids

Cannabinoids are the naturally occurring compounds found within the chemistry of the plant. These include THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the main psychoactive constituent of cannabis, and CBD (cannabidiol), which is the second most prevalent constituent.

Apple Fritter has one of the highest THC levels you’re going to find in a weed strain. The average is between 22% and 28%, but it’s been recorded as high as 32%. For context, the most popular varieties of cannabis (the ones usually found in Dutch ‘coffee shops’) average at around 16%.

Apple Fritter isn’t messing around! If you’re not all that experienced with smoking weed, or even if you’re very experienced with smoking weed, don’t underestimate the Apple Fritter. If you’re rigid on the ‘apple a day’ rule… just eat an apple, right?

Its CBD level, on the other hand, is 0%. Rather anti-climatic, we know.

Strain Terpenes

The terpenes of a strain are the aromatic compounds found in the plant, which are what gives it its often unique aromas. The most abundant terpene found in the Apple Fritter strain is that of caryophyllene, which is synonymous with peppery, dieselly aromas.

The other terpenes present are limonene (which, if you hadn’t guessed, brings out the aromas of citrus), and pinene (which… you really hadn’t guessed?… brings out the aromas of pine).

Strain Side Effects

When smoking any strain, it’s important to be aware of its potential side effects- particularly if it’s as strong as this one.

This won’t come as much of a shock, but the staggering THC level makes for a pretty intense high! Initially very euphoric, happy, and relaxing, the Apple Fritter is likely to bring back the childlike creativity you never thought you’d find again.

Unfortunately there’s a high chance you’ll just be too relaxed to actually put that creativity to work… but hey, lock it all up in your mind journal and who knows? Its effects are full-body and downright impressive.

Sedation will eventually follow, and as the high draws to a close you’ll be out like a light. You can bet on this being a rather pleasant sleep, too.

When it comes to a strain as strong as this one, it’s vital to be aware of the potential negative side effects as well. Luckily for Apple Fritter, it’s just the standard ones; namely dry mouth and dry eyes.

Not to fret- drinking some water should even this out. It would probably be best to have a large amount of water available during the high, just in case you get couch locked and can’t get back up for a while.

It can’t be stressed enough how easy you should be taking it when trying Apple Fritter. As with all strains with high THC levels, overdoing it could lead to anxiety or paranoia, which would be rather counter-productive if you’re smoking to alleviate those things.

Medical Benefits

As is often the case with strains as potent as this one, the Apple Fritter is quite efficient at combating medical issues. It has been reported to address, and in many cases even eliminate pain, stress, insomnia, depression and, most of all, anxiety.

Its ability to tackle even the most severe physical pain (whether it’s temporary pain or permanent pain) should not be understated. But, as ideal as this might sound, remember- everything in moderation. That was a bit preachy, wasn’t it? Apologies. You do you.

Strain Review

If you’re in the mood for a ridiculous high, why not get there with a legitimately delicious bud? Apple Fritter not only boosts creativity, but will get you tremendously relaxed in the process.

If your tolerance for THC is particularly high, a strain like this might be the one for you- albeit in a smaller dosage than you usually go with.

It’s unlikely you’ll be able to grow it any time soon thanks to its somewhat elusive cultivation process, but if you can get your hands on it, kick back and enjoy a lazy evening.

Strain Grow Info

The Apple Fritter strain is still relatively new and we don’t know a whole lot about it. Thus, the following guide on the strain’s cultivation process may not be 100% accurate. You can be assured, though, that it’s as close to accurate as we’re going to get for a while.

Strain Seeds

Sadly, it’s about as hard to track down Apple Fritter seeds or clones as it is to trace its mysterious origins. Your best bet is tracking it down at your local dispensary.

Strain Flowering Time

If you did somehow track down seeds, it’s reported that the buds take roughly nine weeks to flower. It can be grown indoors (which tends to take 8 to 9 weeks) or outdoors (in which case it should be ready by mid-October). The plant doesn’t grow very tall (likely 4-5 feet), but it is dense.

The ideal climate for the Apple Fritter strain would be humid and hot. If growing Apple Fritter, or any strain with a high THC level, make sure it’s properly protected against pests.

This is dependent on numerous factors, most notably making sure your plants are well ventilated, and that the soil they’re growing in is of the best quality.

Strain Yield

The yield of the Apple Fritter strain is reportedly 12 to 14 ounces per square meter when grown indoors, and 14 to 16 ounces when grown outdoors.
