Genetics
The Apple Fritter strain is a very balanced one; 50% incida and 50% sativa.
It was created in Northern California via the crossing of the Animal Cookies strain, also known as Animal Crackers (which is itself a cross between Girl Scout Cookies and Fire OG), and the Sour Apple strain, also known as Sour Diesel Apple (which is a cross between Sour Diesel and Cinderella 99).
Animal Cookies and Sour Apple are notably different from each other, which is partially what makes Apple Fritter so unique. As it’s still a relatively new strain, its genetics are highly protected by the original breeder.
The only known child of the Apple Fritter is the Cherry Fritter. Much like its parent, not much is known about the genetics of this strain. But, as will come as no surprise, it tastes just like a cherry fritter. Who would’ve thought?
Origin
The exact origins of the Apple Fritter strain are unknown. Despite its tremendous reputation in the weed world, the history of the strain is surprisingly mysterious. The original breeder has certainly gone to great lengths to keep its origins under wraps.

In terms of how Apple Fritter actually looks, it’s visibly inconspicuous, especially considering its sky high THC levels. The plant is reportedly bushy, and medium sized.
Its nugs (the smokable part) are shaped like spades, with an olive shade of dark green and some dark purple undertones. They have bright orange pistils, and a coating of white, crystallic trichomes.
It’s a heavy strain, more so than one might expect from looking at it.
Strain Flavor
As will now be tremendously apparent, its taste is similar to the freshly baked pastry treat from which it got its name.
Its tastes are widely lauded as being among the very best that weed has to offer, and you won’t find much more like it on the market (except, of course, its descendant Cherry Fritter).
Very appley, with cakey, vanilla, cheese, earthy and pine tones, it might not taste exactly like the real thing, but if there’s a strain of weed out there that tastes any closer to an apple fritter, that’s… well, that would be insane. That’s… highly unlikely.

Any guesses on its aroma? Yes, the Apple Fritter strain does indeed smell quite like the pastry, with strong hints of sour apples. But there’s also notes of cheese, honey, pine and juniper.

Cannabinoids are the naturally occurring compounds found within the chemistry of the plant. These include THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the main psychoactive constituent of cannabis, and CBD (cannabidiol), which is the second most prevalent constituent.

If you did somehow track down seeds, it’s reported that the buds take roughly nine weeks to flower. It can be grown indoors (which tends to take 8 to 9 weeks) or outdoors (in which case it should be ready by mid-October). The plant doesn’t grow very tall (likely 4-5 feet), but it is dense.
The ideal climate for the Apple Fritter strain would be humid and hot. If growing Apple Fritter, or any strain with a high THC level, make sure it’s properly protected against pests.
