WIRE: The Herbery sponsors “An Evening with Peggy Lee and Frank Sinatra” to support Magenta Theater

Vancouver, Washington — For TWO SHOWS ONLY, July 21st and 22nd, Magenta Theater is thrilled to present renowned chanteuse Linda Lee Michelet, her stellar big band comprised of ‘the best of the best’, an awarding winning big band singer who’s performances singing Frank Sinatra classics is legendary, and a line up of songs featuring the original arrangements of Peggy Lee and Quincy Jones, and Frank Sinatra’s “Live at the Sands” album!

“This is going to be an extraordinary show, and we’re hopeful to raise funds to get an exterior sign for the theater,” said Jaynie Roberts, Magenta Artistic Director. “We’ve been in our new location for more than a year, but we get feedback all the time about how hard it is for new patrons to find us without street signage. A marquee type sign will help us to really stand out on Main Street” added Roberts.

The Herbery in Vancouver, featuring premium cannabis products at three convenient locations is sponsoring the shows. “We thought this was a great community partnership,” said Jim Mullen, The Herbery COO. “The community has honored The Herbery by voting us “Best of Clark County Cannabis Stores” two years in a row now, and we’re happy to give back. And, this will be a terrific show” added Mullen.

This intimate evening of classic favorites feature the original arrangements of Peggy Lee and Quincy Jones, and Frank Sinatra’s “Live at the Sands” album. Featured Peggy Lee tunes include: “Fever”, “I’m a Woman”, “It’s A Good Day”, and “Is That All There Is.” Featured Frank Sinatra tunes include: “My Kind of Town”, “Come Dance With Me”, “New York, New York”, and “Summer Wind.”

The Linda Michelet Big Band is a ‘who’s who’ of the best in the business:

Michelet. “When I asked them to join me for these two shows, and told them the book
we’d be performing, it was an offer they couldn’t refuse” added Michelet. (The ‘book’
refers to the songs and even more specifically the arrangements that will be performed).

More about Linda Lee Michelet and John Gilmore:

Linda Lee Michelet has been performing in the Portland area for the past 20 years. A regular at The Benson and The Heathman hotels for over 12 years, her swinging style is compared to the late great Peggy Lee. Linda has received rave reviews from The Oregonian, The Portland Tribune, and was a featured story in MORE Magazine. TV appearances include OPB’s ArtBeat, and nationally syndicated Better TV. Linda and pianist Joe Millward have created and performed several shows in the northwest including tributes to George Shearing, Peggy Lee, Burt Bacharach, Anita O’Day and Nancy Wilson. Linda was last seen as Almina Clare in Magenta Theater’s production of “Waiting in the Wings.”

John Gilmore is a vocalist and pianist whose musical career spans 40 years. Originally from Los Angeles, he comes from a musical family, his father having been a record producer and Vice President of Capitol Records and his mother, a big-band vocalist. While majoring in music at UCLA, he won First Prize in the Frank Sinatra Awards, Pop Vocal category. He worked in the Los Angeles area from 1974 through 1991 as an entertainer and band leader including a six-year engagement at the world-renowned Jimmy’s Restaurant in Beverly Hills, performing regularly for such notable customers as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Stevie Wonder, Cher and many others. John has performed at such venues as the Benson Hotel, Portland City Grill, Wilf’s Restaurant and Bar, and Tony Starlight’s Supper Club and Lounge. His debut CD, “For My Father & Frank” is a tribute to Frank Sinatra and his father, Voyle Gilmore who was Sinatra’s record producer from 1953 to 1958.
