WIRE: Yerba Buena wins two Oregon green business awards

Hillsboro, OR — Yerba Buena made history this month by being the first cannabis company named in Oregon Business Magazine‘s 100 Best Green Workplaces.

Yerba Buena placed 9 on the list.

Yerba Buena also earned Washington County‘s highest level (gold star) Green Business Award. This is the first time that Washington County has recognized a cannabis company for excellence in sustainable practices.

The 100 Best Green Workplaces award is based on multiple sustainability measures including energy consumption, water use, buying local, recycling, and carpooling. Washington County’s Green Business Award is based on recycling, reuse, toxics reduction, green purchasing, and corporate social responsibilities.

Since inception in 2015, Yerba Buena has been committed to sustainability, conservation, energy efficiency, and organic growing methods. As for the future, Yerba Buena will remain focused on further lowering of our energy consumption and leading by example.

Highlights

Yerba Buena, a Clean Green Certified (the Organic certification for cannabis) cannabis producer), was granted one of the first 8 recreational licenses in the state of Oregon and made the first sale under the new regulations. Yerba Buena was the first cultivator to receive a rebate through the Energy Trust of Oregon for sustainability and energy conservation. Yerba Buena received the highly coveted Dope Industry Award for Best Indoor Grow of 2016.

Yerba Buena’s lead cultivator is on the Technical Advisory Council (TAC) for the Research Innovation Institute (RII), an international organization setting sustainability standards and supporting the innovation of new sustainable technologies. Yerba Buena’s operations manager is on the board of the Cannabis Certification Council, a national non-profit focused on creating a certification program for fair labor standards and organic practices in the cannabis industry. Yerba Buena’s general manager is on the board of the Oregon Cannabis Association (OCA), the only statewide organization devoted to protecting and promoting the interests of the Oregon cannabis industry to state legislators.
