Blue Glue Strain

The Blue Glue strain is a sativa-indica hybrid, and a cross between Blue Dream and Gorilla Glue #4. Not one for beginners, its highest recorded THC level is 24%, delivering a notable euphoric high.

Here’s all you’ll ever need to know about Blue Glue, including its genetics and origin, its appearance, flavor and aroma, its cannabinoid and terpene content, its side effects and medical benefits, and its cultivation process.

Blue Glue Strain

Strain History

Here’s all that’s publicly available regarding the genetics and origin of the Blue Glue strain.

Genetics

The Blue Glue strain is a hybrid, equal parts sativa and indica. It was created via the crossing of Blue Dream (legendary along the West Coast, Blue Dream was made by crossing Haze and Blueberry) and Gorilla Glue #4, also known as GG4 (whose parent strains are Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel).

Origin

The original cultivators of Blue Glue are unknown. It is referred to as a celebrity child, because its parents, Blue Dream and Gorilla Glue #4, are among the most popular in the cannabis community.

The strains in which Blue Glue has the most in common include Silver Pearl (also known as Pearl X, Silver Pearl is a three-way cross of Early Pearl, Skunk, and Northern Lights #5), Glueberry (itself a three-way cross of Gorilla Glue, Blueberry, and OG Kush), Grapefruit (a child of Cinderella 99), and Peach Cobbler (a cross between Strawberry Banana and Dream Queen).

Strain Appearance

In terms of how it looks, Blue Glue is relatively standard. Shaped much like grapes, the nugs (the smokable part) have a tint of blue, with orange pistils. They are covered with a hefty helping of white trichomes.

Strain Flavor

The flavors most users describe when tasting Blue Glue are flowers and berries. Exhaling will bring out undertones of spicy herbs and chocolate. Some users have also reported blueberries specifically, as well as earthy flavors.

Strain Aroma

The aromas of the Blue Glue strain are similar to its flavors, consisting largely of scents of flowers and berries, but there are also hints of pine.

Strain Cannabinoids

Cannabinoids are the naturally occurring compounds found in cannabis plants. The most abundant is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the primary psychoactive component found in cannabis. It’s THC that provides users with the ‘high’ sensation. The second most abundant component is CBD.

Although THC and CBD have the exact same molecular structure, a slight difference in how the atoms are made up means they affect the user quite differently.

For Blue Glue, the THC count tends to average somewhere between 18.5% and 21.5%. Its highest recorded THC level is 24%. This is considered a substantial amount of THC, meaning it can’t really be recommended for those new to marijuana.

For context, the average THC level of weed sold in Dutch ‘coffee shops’ tends to be as low as 16%. So if thus far you’ve only smoked while on your trips to Amsterdam, and if it tends to hit you hard there, it might be a good idea to steer clear of this one for now.

If you do insist on Blue Glue, though, make sure it’s in small doses.

Blue Glue’s CBD level, on the other hand, is very low, usually less than 1%. Suffice to say the THC’s doing all the heavy lifting here.

The rest of its cannabinoid profile (including CBC, CBG, CBN, and THCV) are also all lower than 1%, the highest being CBG, whose highest recorded level is just short of hitting 1% (0.94%, to be precise).

Strain Terpenes

Terpenes are the aromatic compounds found in a wide range of plants, like pine, lavender, and orange peel. They are most commonly associated with cannabis, because of their high concentration levels within said plants. It’s the terpenes that provide all the aromas.

The Blue Glue strain’s most abundant terpene (0.21%) is myrcene, a herbal terpene which brings out peppery and earthy aromas. Myrcene is the most common terpene found in cannabis plants.

Somewhat less common are the remaining terpenes found in Blue Glue: caryophyllene at 0.15% (which brings out pepper aromas), and pinene at 0.17% (which brings out, you guessed it, aromas of pine).

Amongst these are ocimene with 0.01%, camphene at 0.06%, humulene at 0.07%, linalool at 0.02%, eucalyptol at 0.19%, and terpinolene at 0.02%.

The total percentage of terpene content found in the Blue Grass strain is 0.99%. This is lower than the terpene average, which is between 2% and 5%.

Strain Side Effects

When smoking any strain of weed, it’s important to be prepared for any potential side effects, especially if you’re new to smoking. While there are plenty of strains out there with higher THC levels, Blue Glue still packs a punch. The following are all reported side effects of the Blue Glue strain.

The high is initially intensely euphoric, giving users a burst of energy, focus, and a heightened sensory perception, all of which are reportedly very beneficial in social situations. In not too long at all, though, you’ll be propelled into a state of total calm. Due to the effects it has on the user, night time use is most recommended.

It’s also vital to be aware of the negative side effects. When it comes to Blue Glue there’s nothing to be too concerned about, though. Some users have reported low blood pressure, as well as slurred speech.

Medical Benefits

As is the case with most strains with THC levels this high, Blue Glue also has its medical benefits. On the one hand, it’s known to have positive impacts on pain, both permanent and temporary.

On the other hand, it’s an excellent choice for those suffering from depression, stress, or anxiety. That’s no surprise, considering it provides such an uplifting high.

As ideal as this might sound, it’s important to be aware of your limits. Naturally, it would be unrealistic to assume any strain of weed will address all health concerns, but Blue Glue is by all means one of your best options.

The Blue Glue strain is recommended for when you’re going on a flight, due to its reduction of nausea and increase in appetite. Again, though- know your limits! No one wants to be couch locked (or airplane seat locked, rather) when the next item on their agenda is to wait in a long queue.

Strain Review

Blue Glue is the ideal strain if you’re experienced with weed, and if you’re looking for an evening that’s both lively and relaxed. Its flavors are pleasant, as are its aromas, and the high is rivalled by few. Throw in all its medical benefits, and what’s not to love?

Strain Grow Info

While the original cultivator is not known, there is still enough information publicly available regarding the cultivation process that growing your own Blue Glue is certainly doable… if you can get your hands on seeds, that is.

Growers rate Blue Glue’s cultivation difficulty as moderate, so while it’s by no means a difficult strain to grow, it’s not really recommended for novices.

Strain Seeds

Blue Glue seeds and clones can be rather difficult to track down at dispensaries, but auto-flowering growing material is available if you do enough research.

Strain Flowering Time

The Blue Glue strain can be grown both indoors and outdoors. If you’re growing Blue Glue indoors, it’s important to make sure you have the right amount of space. Its flowering type is photoperiod, and it has an average flowering time of between 62 and 69 days.

The plants require between 8 and 9 weeks to harvest (usually 73 days), and they reportedly have long branches, with heavily resinous buds.

When growing any strain of cannabis, it’s important to be wary of pests.

The most common pests that affect cannabis include whiteflies (similar to spider mites), fungus gnats (small black bugs that can affect the base of your crops), aphids (a potentially very destructive insect that varies in length), and spider mites (one of the most common cannabis pests).

There are multiple ways by which you can prevent pests. These include making sure your crops are protected by a sealed barrier, and ensuring proper cleaning and sanitization practices are being taken.

Always handle your crops with gloves, and be sure to sanitize all the devices and tools that you use for handling your plants. This can be done by spraying them with hydrogen peroxide or an alcohol solution.

Strain Yield

When it comes to how much weed you’ll actually end up with, the Blue Glue strain’s yield is relatively average. With the right amount of attention and care, the Blue Glue strain has an outdoor yield of between 15 and 20 ounces per plant (or 550 grams per plant), and an indoor yield of between 1 and 2 ounces per square foot (or 400 grams per square meter).
