But if you’re a seasoned smoker looking to push your boundaries a little, this could very well be the bud for you. Let’s explore what makes Lilac Diesel so good.

Lilac Diesel Strain Review

Strain history

Genetics

As a hybrid of Citral Glue, Forbidden Fruit, Cherry Pie, and Super Lemon Haze, Lilac Diesel has a pretty solid pedigree. You’re going to feel a big Indica body high mixed with energy, happiness, relaxation, and easy-going mood uplift. You might find yourself couch-bound, but you’ll feel so good you won’t care at all.

Origin

Created by the wizards at Ethos Genetics as a funky twist on the Diesel concept, Lilac Diesel is now a well-known strain in its own right with numerous fresh new cross-strains and back-crosses available from its daddies at Ethos and other vendors too.

Subsequent breed lines have doubled down on the strain’s potential for extraction, which is regarded as excellent.

Strain Profile

Strain Appearance

Lilac Diesel calyxes are often dense and fat, though the buds are generally narrow. They’re prone to foxtailing, so watch those lamps! Despite the name, Lilac Diesel buds aren’t purple; it refers to the aroma rather than the color. In fact, they are bright lime green thanks to their thick layer of trichomes.

Strain Flavor

This is a diesel strain, so you know you’re going to get a solid note of fuel in the flavor. That sits in the middle, after a big wave of floral and citrus overtones, and then dies down to a piney, resinous and earthy tail to the flavor.

Strain Aroma

Like a selection box of different cannabis scents, Lilac Diesel holds a bouquet of treats for your nose. Floral, sweet, a little soapy, there’s a real herbal kick of thyme running through the whole scent.

Strain Cannabinoids

With an average THC percentage of around 20% to 28%, Lilac Diesel isn’t for the faint of heart. The total cannabinoid level of this strain is somewhere between 27% and 30%.

Strain Terpenes

Ethos Genetics doesn’t give the chemical terpenes in their listing for Lilac Diesel, preferring to give out flavor notes. However, it’s safe to say that there’s a fair mix of terpenes at play here.

Ocimene makes sense for the fruity notes, and Valencene is a logical pick for the citrus edge. Myrcene is a safe bet due to the slightly tropical, herbaceous notes, and Sabinene for the pine-needle elements of the scent. The soapy tone of the scent profile can be accounted for by Terpinolene.

It’s hard to pin down exactly which terpenes are present, so if you’re looking for something specific to switch up your usage then you might have to roll the dice here.

However, there’s definitely a proper cocktail going on, so you should be able to find something that’ll have a refreshing effect even if you end up just adding one new terpene to what you’ve been hitting regularly. It’s a good strain for mixing things up a bit.

Side Effects

Lilac Diesel is a balanced but quite heavy hybrid. It’ll chill you out and lift your mood, but it also has the likelihood of sticking you to your couch. You won’t mind too much though!

The most commonly reported side effect is having a dry mouth and dry eyes, so make sure you drink a bunch of water. You’ll also likely get an increase in appetite, so stock up for those munchies because Lilac Diesel tends to bring them on strong. Other than that, it’s a relatively chilled experience for a strain as strong as this.

Expect the usual side effects of smoking, as well as abuse of cannabis. Experienced smokers report little to no side effects.

Medical Benefits

This strain has exceptional pain-killing effects and is great for tackling depression. It’s a great strain for smoking before bed to chill you out mentally and physically, so it’s a good choice if you’re trying to deal with insomnia too.

This strain is good for nausea too due to it being balanced and uplifting rather than a heavy head-spinner. If you’re struggling with any of these things, give Lilac Diesel a try and see if it cuts through for you.

Lilac Diesel Strain Reviews

Do you want to spark your creative mind, chill your restless thoughts, ease your pain and sink into a deep, deep state of bodily relaxation? You’ve come to the right place. Let Lilac Diesel open up your mind and prepare you for a sweet reprieve from life.

Not one for the uninitiated, Lilac Diesel is a powerful hybrid, 50/50 Sativa and Indica, that goes heavy on the THC and has little in the way of CBD to deliver. Even the seasoned smoker will want to take it easy on Lilac Diesel at first, given its super-strong profile and hefty body effects.

Don’t be fooled by the name. Diesel is a classic morning and day-time toke, perfect for supercharging your creativity and pushing your energy levels. You’re not going to want to start hitting the Lilac Diesel first thing in the morning.

Sure, you’ll have a ton of ideas and a very chill mentality, but you’ll be back in bed. Think of it like Diesel with a warm, purple blanket over it and you’re getting there. This is what makes it hard to dose at first, because the burst of energy and creativity you experience upfront lasts for maybe 20 to 30 minutes, and then the body high comes in to wrap you up and float you off.

That bridge between the two states isn’t the easiest to navigate if you’ve gone in too hard, and you’ve got to be prepared to just let go and move with it.

Once you get your dosage dialed in though, Lilac Diesel is your ticket to a chilled-out, creative headspace wrapped up in a huge, thick blanket of physical relaxation. Very much an evening smoke, Lilac Diesel is a thinker’s strain.

It’ll calm your nerves, chill out your anxious thoughts, and spark your creativity while putting your body to rest, excellent for a chilled night in or for kicking off your dreams as you go to bed.

To paraphrase the song, Lilac Diesel is sweet and heady, a hypnotic strange delight for the smoker who wants to try something new.

Strain Grow information

Lilac Diesel is a good choice to grow inside and outside, so whatever your home grow set-up you can get a great result. It’s not the highest-yielding strain in the world, but its genetics are strong and the strains that it is a hybrid of are not tricky to grow either.

It’s a roughly 15-week grow time for Lilac Diesel, with a vegetative stage that lasts for between eight and nine weeks, then another six to seven weeks of flowering.

Water use increases hugely towards the end of the grow, as you’d imagine with all those big buds, and you need to keep an eye on your nutrient balance because Lilac Diesel can be a little temperamental when it comes to calcium, but if you’re sharp about it you’ll get a great harvest.

Seeds

Seeds are hard to come by for this strain, so you’ll have to scout around. This strain doesn’t give many seeds back either, so it’s a bit of a dice-roll as to whether you’ll be able to grow again off your existing batch.

Flowering Time

It takes roughly eight weeks for Lilac Diesel to flower. You’re best off growing this strain inside if you’re in a colder environment, but watch for foxtailing, and don’t let the growing plants get too close to your lamps indoors.

Outdoors in a warm climate, it will grow nicely on this sort of schedule. In both settings, keep a good eye on your nutrient mix and increase water levels as the buds start to form, up to 1 gallon a day for a mature plant a couple of weeks before harvesting. Lilac Diesel is only in flower for about six to eight weeks, which explains its low yield.

What you do get is of the highest quality, so you need to make sure you harvest everything you can from that short flowering period.

Strain Yield

If you want to maximize your yield from a Lilac Diesel plant, it’s going to be best to grow indoors so you can force the bud growth a little. It’s a relatively low-yielding strain.

You can push it indoors, with some growers reporting up to 2.3g per square foot, though that seems unlikely in most environments.

Yields that you should expect lie under the 1g per square foot mark unless you get very lucky or push it very hard and intensively. Outdoors, the yield will be in this lower bracket too.
