Community Involvement and Cannabis Culture in Vancouver, WA

High End Market Place was the first cannabis business to be part of civic and community organizations including Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, Vancouver Downtown Association, and the Uptown Association. Being part of these organizations, the High End Market Place team has volunteered their time joining other community members in Uptown Village clean ups, and is taking part in the upcoming Vancouver Watershed Alliance’s 2016 storm drain mural project. H.E.M.P. has also sponsored numerous community oriented events including the first annual GVCC Digital Tech Expo, The first and second annual GVCC Women’s Golf Tournament, and the first annual Impactful Women’s ConnectFest, among others.

For the past 20 months, High End Market Place has hosted monthly cultural events called Sunday Sessions, where they feature live music, art, book launches, and poetry readings including hosting the Clark County Poet Laureate Christopher Luna on a number of occasions.  H.E.M.P. has also partnered with local businesses for Sunday Sessions including local printers and massage therapists to promote the “shop local” movement. All events are free, 21+ events that are open to the public.

Lastly, H.E.M.P. features local artwork from Vancouver based artists in their front lobby/gallery space to engage customers and the art community to go beyond your typical retail space. H.E.M.P. promotes a different artist each month, and is proud to now be included in the VDA’s first Friday art walk, furthering the reach of the downtown Arts District.

Through community involvement, we here at High End Market Place strive to make positive connections with the residents, local government, and community leaders in their area to open up the conversation about cannabis. Daily, we educate our community on cannabis and its uses, and are one of the only medically endorsed stores in Vancouver by the Washington State Department of Health. We also work towards educating community leaders and local government on the positive economic and social impacts marijuana businesses can impart. Together with our community, we truly believe we can help eliminate the negative stigma associated with cannabis and its uses, and move our economy forward in a profound way.

We want to thank our family, friends, customers, and everyone who has supported us since we opened in January 2015. This is truly an honor, and one we will not soon forget.
