Welcome to The Friday Five – a weekly weed and music column from Collie Tunes, a Portland company focused on tunes for the cannabis industry.
This column runs every Friday – so keep it right here for more selections, and enjoy!
Selections and comments below by Sean Hocking, owner of Collie Tunes:
01) Incredible String Band – Air
Used in this great scene ( https://vimeo.com/100270396?ref=fb-share&1) in 1971 Milos Forman Film “Taking Off”. If you like Bon Iver you are going to fall in love with the Incredible String Band.
02) Free Weed – I Believe In Weed
Eric Gage lead singer of Portland (now L.A. based) band, White Fang and his solo outing Free Weed is about as good as Pacific NW stoner rock gets
03) Dillinger – Natty Socialist
This week’s Jamaica choice is for all those Bernie Dabbers out there, Natty Socialist “Come On Y’all.. Natty Dread Riddim and Socialism”
04) Lucille Bogan – Pot Hound Blues
Just to remind us all that songs about weed smoking have been around for nigh on a century. Lucille Bogan performs “Pot Hound Blues” with Tampa Red on guitar and Cow Cow Davenport on piano. This was recorded in October of 1928 or May of 1929
05) Smokin’ Cheeba – When I Was A Youth
South London garage club hit of a few years back. That bass line will draw you in.
