Pure CBD Strain Review

With a sweet and fruity taste, this strain guarantees a pleasurable smoking experience every time. If you don’t like the heavy, disorientated feeling that comes with smoking high THC strains, this may be the one for you.

It’s also an excellent choice for growers with indoor space limitations. Don’t let the small size of this plant deter you because it generates some TRULY impressive yields. Ready to learn more about pure CBD? Let’s dive in.

Strain History

Genetics

Pure CBD is, unfortunately, of undisclosed genetics. However, we do know that it’s CBD dominant (usually between 8-15%) CBD.

It’s also a hybrid strain, and although the exact strains it stems from are unknown, we know it’s a ratio of 40% Indica and 60% Sativa. Although the exact lineage is unknown, it’s assumed that the pure CBD strain comes from a mix of regions.

Regions of Afghanistan that are most notable for making hash are probably responsible for 40% of the strain (Indica), while Central America is assumed to be where the 60% ratio of Sativa came from.

Origin

Sweet Seeds, one of the most prominent seed suppliers in Europe, created the pure CBD strain. Apparently, the pure CBD strain has been in the works for some time – in fact, it’s the result of two generations of auto (or self) pollination.

This process is pretty self-descriptive: it occurs when a plant can pollinate itself and other flowers that the same plant produces.

A CBD dominant clone, that shares some ancestry with the infamous Diesel family strain, was the auto-pollinated plant.

Strain Appearance

At first glance, Pure CBD may look like any other strain. However, it has a few notable differences that set it apart from THC dominant strains. Pure CBD is a beautiful light green color, with bursts of purple, orange, and dark green flowers.

As we’d expect from ANY quality strain, Pure CBD is sprinkled with a generous frosting of trichomes, giving it that crystal-like appearance.

You’ll notice, though, that compared to THC dominant strains, Pure CBD looks different. It’s generally a lighter color than some of the most popular strains like Pineapple Express, which tends to be a deeper green, with much darker orange hairs.

Even when compared to some strains in the Diesel family, which share some lineage with Pure CBD, there are some notable differences.

For example, Sour Diesel which has a similar light green color includes fewer purple hairs and a higher concentration of orange ones.

Despite their physical differences, though, you can definitely identify the relations between the two. Diesel strains are known for being high-energy, mind-clearing strains.

That’s exactly what you get with pure CBD. The only difference is there are no psychoactive properties, and the effects are much milder.

To put your mind at ease, these color changes DON’T mean you’re getting a poor quality bud. Cannabis strains come in all sorts of colors, and most variations are due to a combination of factors like growing conditions and lineage.

The concentration of trichomes determines the general quality of your weed – and pure CBD certainly isn’t lacking in this department.

It’s sticky, trichomes galore, so you can rest assured that the CBD content is high, and more importantly, of excellent quality.

Strain Flavor

Pure CBD is described as having a ‘sweet’ and ‘fruity’ flavor – some even say it has hints of citrus! This is no surprise when you consider the Diesel lineage.

Diesel strains often feature a punchy, earthy flavor topped off with a hint of citrus fruit. If you’re looking for a smoke that’s tasty and refreshing, pure CBD ticks all the right boxes.

Strain Aroma

Like most of us, before you taste your bud, you’ll probably want to smell it. When you first smell Pure CBD, you’ll notice that fruity, citrus scent almost immediately.

It smells a little different to high THC strains, and you’ll notice that the infamous earthy edge is a little less severe with Pure CBD. You may also find that Pure CBD has a hint of Cypress.

Cypress trees are native to North America, and they give off a fresh, smoky, and sweet scent that has a touch of ‘lingering pine’ to it. It’s unique and beautiful – if you’ve ever smelt one, you’ll recognize it instantly!

Strain Cannabinoids

Because pure CBD is a CBD dominant strain, you can expect between 8-15% CBD and anywhere between 0.4 to 1% of THC.

This means you’ll get none of the psychoactive properties found in high THC strains, which makes this strain perfect for medicinal users.

Strain Terpenes

The exact terpenes in this particular strain are undisclosed. However, the most dominant terpenes in other CBD strains are humulene, limonene, pinene, linalool, caryophyllene, and myrcene.

These terpenes have an impressive range of properties, from improving memory to soothing asthma. Although we can’t identify the exact terpenes found in pure CBD, it’s likely to be one or more of the above.

Regardless of the combination, you’re guaranteed an impressive aroma and some incredible medicinal qualities.

Strain Side Effects

CBD and THC have different chemical structures, and each one will produce different side effects. If you smoke a CBD dominant strain like pure CBD, you may experience side effects such as:

  • Reduced or increased appetite
  • Fatigue
  • Weight loss with excessive use
  • Diarrhea
  • Dizziness

Note: These side effects are rare and are unlikely to be experienced with mild consumption. In fact, CBD dominant strains are renowned for producing fewer side effects than THC dominant strains, both physically and mentally.

Medical Benefits

Pure CBD offers its users an abundance of medicinal benefits. This is why CBD dominant strains have become so popular in recent years. The therapeutic benefits of cannabis are no secret.

However, pure CBD provides an excellent way to achieve these without the reduction of cognitive function. Some of the most notable medical benefits of CBD are:

  • Anti-inflammatory properties
  • Anti-nausea properties
  • Reduction of anxiety and depression
  • Pain relief
  • Migraine relief
  • Help with insomnia
  • Antipsychotic effects
  • Diabetes prevention
  • Prevents the spread of tumors

The physical and mental health benefits of Cannabidiol (CBD) are now widely documented, with numerous clinical trials taking place to confirm its benefits.

CBD works by interacting with multiple receptors in our nervous system. These can be serotonin receptors, vanilloid receptors, and nuclear receptors.

It enhances our bodies’ Endocannabinoid System (ECS) to support our overall well-being, which is what makes it such a versatile treatment for a range of conditions, from epilepsy and cancer to PTSD and depression.

If a high concentration of THC and a dream-state high are your end goal, pure CBD probably isn’t for you. However, if you want all the benefits of medicinal cannabis without the psychoactive properties, pure CBD is an excellent strain to try.

Not only does it offer smokers a HUGE range of medicinal properties, but pure CBD also has a beautiful, citrus flavor which may appeal to smokers who aren’t fond of the traditional, earthy tones associated with many THC dominant strains.

It’s also an excellent choice if you need relief from a physical or mental condition, but you don’t want to spend your day debilitated by uncomfortable side effects.

When used in moderation, pure CBD has little to no side effects on users, so you can light up and still go about your day as usual (no couch lock or brain fog with this one!)

Strain Grow Information

Strain Seeds

If you fancy growing your own pure CBD, you can buy seeds directly from their creators, Sweet Seeds. All pure CBD seeds are feminized, and they’re reasonably priced and easy to find, which can be tough to find with some strains.

Thanks, Sweet Seeds!

Strain Flowering Time

Once you’ve planted your Pure CBD seeds, you can expect your plants to flower in around 63-70 days, and maximum yields can be collected after nine weeks of flowering.

What’s more, these seeds can be planted indoors or outdoors, so they’re nice and versatile. You’re guaranteed excellent growth, whatever the climate.

Because these plants only grow between 50 to 80cm tall, they’re also ideal for indoor growers working with tight spaces.

The Pure CBD strain plant also has a total growth cycle of eight weeks, and despite being one of the smaller plants on the market, it produces incredible results for its size.

Strain Yield

If you’re growing your plants indoors, you can expect a yield of between 400-450g and outdoors, around 150g per plant in peak conditions. For the best outdoor results, outdoor harvests should be collected in late September.

Considering how small this plant is, the yields are truly impressive. If you want to start growing at home and you’re short on space, the Pure CBD plant promises an impressive yield despite its small size.
