Looking for a gift for the cannabis enthusiast in your life?

Portland’s High Holiday Bash, part of the Northwest Cannabis Classic event tour, will have a host of pipes, bongs, grinders and even some sampling opportunities when it kicks off on Dec. 6 at Pure Space in Portland’s Pearl District.

But there’s more to the event than just shopping, said Cory Wray, one of the organizers.

“We’ll have a lot of really cool things that would make good Christmas gifts, we’ll have dispensaries from Oregon showing off their brands, and we’ll have a lot of consumer-oriented vendors,” Wray said. “So many events are business to business, but we wanted to really provide something for consumers.”

The Northwest Cannabis Classic tour began in Alaska and Washington and has been traveling south along the Pacific Coast. Each event includes a statewide cannabis growers competition, with winners of five categories (Sativa, Indica, Hybrid, Concentrate, Edible) announced at the convention award show.

The event also includes panel discussions on several topics, including one from expert growers, who will give tips on growing, breeding and genetics.

The show will also have live music and a tasting village where visitors can sample an array of cannabis strains from different growers, Wray said.

“Consumers that day will also be able to vote on their favorite booth, which we’ll announce at the awards show at the end of the event,” Wray said.

Tickets are $25 in advance and can be purchased here: VIP tickets are $199 and include several behind-the-scenes opportunities, Wray said.

Judges kits are still available as well. Wray said they come with a wide array of samples and cost $350.

The event is restricted to those age 21 and older and alcohol is prohibited. The selling of marijuana is also banned at the event.

The High Holiday Bash is on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015 from noon to 9 p.m. and will be at Pure Space, 1315 NW Overton, in Portland’s Pearl District.
